Not made in a sweatshop bags
Bag it for Labour Rights!
Oxfam Australia is proud to present the "I am not a sweatshop bag". Developed in Thailand by a worker-run cooperative called Solidarity, the bag is based on the winning entry from our Design it for Labour Rights competition held last July.
Buy a bag online and support the cooperative or head to your nearest Oxfam Shop.
"In this place, there is no boss hanging over [us] or taking advantage of us. There is no threat and insult. Most importantly, we are in a factory of our own.”
– Manop Kaewpaga, a Solidarity cooperative member

Supporting workers cooperatives in Thailand
These bags are made by workers in Thailand who were made redundant from their factory because they stood up for their legal rights. Read more about the Solidarity cooperative here. Throughout Asia, sportswear workers producing for companies like Nike, FILA, adidas, Puma, New Balance and Asics are denied their trade union rights making it difficult for them to end low wages, long hours, verbal abuse, dangerous working conditions, and high levels of sexual harassment (80 per cent of sportswear workers are women).
For more information on these bags contact Daisy Gardener or Kelly Dent.
The worldwide competition to design these bags generated some powerful messages and images about labour rights. Our youngest entrant was a 7-year-old school boy called Campbell, from Massachusetts, who wrote a message about fair pay for all workers around the globe. See Campbell's entry
